The cases are growing exponentially, as we are now used to this virus, we are in the order of 90,000 a day and if in London the mayor Sadiq Khan has ordered the stop of public holidays and the New Year in Trafalgar Square, the government of Boris Johnson seems more cautious about restrictions. Probably these will arrive after Boxing Day, meanwhile the hospitals risk collapse and 10% of doctors and nurses are absent due to the infection. Even the Premier League, which is the one that most of all the leagues is suffering from this new wave of coronavirus, at the moment the idea is not to stop. Boxing Day on December 26th is not touched and two more rounds are already scheduled until January 3rd before the 2-week stop.

Germany’s attention on the issue is very high, but a new lockdown is ruled out. Pharmacies are very strict for the unvaccinated who can only access supermarkets and pharmacies. Christmas and New Year without gatherings, celebrations at home for no more than 10 people and above all, after the holidays, all sporting events will be without public. Meanwhile, the Bundesliga has already stopped for the winter break and will resume after the Epiphany.

The Omicron variant runs fast especially in Catalonia where the increase in cases was 100 percent in a few days. Immediate restrictions in Barcelona and its surroundings: curfews, limited number of house parties, cutting the capacity of public places, restaurants and gyms. The cancellation of New Year’s public holidays is also imminent. Still no restrictions announced for sporting events, La Liga is expected to restart on December 31st with Valencia-Espanyol, waiting to see the developments.

The Omicron variant is also alarming in France and therapies are exceeding 3000. Macron talks about a vaccination Green Pass, like our super Green Pass in effect since January. Still no announcement on the cancellation of outdoor events. Ligue 1 does not play until 7 January.
In Austria

Here the tight lockdown of three weeks has had its effects, and Austria has resumed thinking about Christmas, with markets and no restrictions for vaccinated people. There remain for those who do not limit the lockdown Austria, like Italy, is among the EU countries that the buffer, in addition to the vaccine, to cross borders. And from abroad, however, it will be possible to arrive only if already with three doses of vaccine.
