“We are deeply disappointed with the actions of the Russian Federation to block the extension of our observer status. Russia’s actions run counter to its goal of diplomatically reducing tensions in the region. ”

Formerly Senior Adviser to the Bureau of International Security and Non-Proliferation of the United States Department of State Thomas Countryman declaredthat the success of the conference on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons would help the Russia-United States dialogue on arms control.
