GNR seizes about 900 counterfeit articles in Leiria and Lisbon – News from Coimbra
The GNR’s Tax Action Unit (UAF) seized 876 counterfeit articles in two inspections directed at the counterfeit article marketing circuit, in Lisbon and Leiria, between 12 and 16 December, it was announced today.
In a statement, the GNR states that “seven records were drawn up for counterfeiting, imitation and illegal use of trademarks and also for sale or concealment of products, carried out in the Industrial Property Code” during inspections carried out in the Santana Municipal Market, in the municipality of Caldas da Rainha, and in Feira da Malveira, in the municipality of Mafra.
Following the police investigations, 109 notices were also drawn up for infringements of the Regime of Goods in Circulation.
The inspection actions aimed at combating counterfeiting, illegal use of trademarks and the sale of counterfeit articles, as well as inspection under the Regime of Goods in Circulation, under VAT, the Guard soldiers seized 876 counterfeit articles, having , seven cars were produced for counterfeiting, imitation and illegal use of the brand and also for sale or concealment of products, carried out in the Industrial Property Code, according to the GNR.
The articles were seized by the Tax Action Unit through the Tax Action Detachments of Lisbon, Coimbra and Évora between the 12th and 16th of December.
The actions included the reinforcement of the Leiria and Lisbon Intervention Detachments.
The Guarda Nacional Republicana recalls that the main objective of this type of action is to ensure compliance with industrial property rights, emphasizing the fight against counterfeiting, illegal use of trademarks and the sale of counterfeit items.
