Rebelote! Like last week at Venoix, the meeting ended with a penalty for GA Caen. With the difference that this time, Kevin Goba’s penalty allowed Caen to equalize against Évreux, and not win. Goals in added time, twists and turns, AG Caen is giving us a nice, eventful end to the year.
Morgan Hardoin still scorer
After his double last week which allowed his team to win against Cherbourg, Morgan Hardoin reiterated. After a balanced start to the match, the Caen midfielder opened the scoring with a deflected strike near the surface in the 25th minute. Évreux could have equalized in stride but the strike of his attacker, alone against the goalkeeper, went just above the crossbar of Papa Mbaye.
Évreux attacks the second half with a beating pace
Returning from the locker room, the Caennais failed to preserve their advantage for just five minutes. On receiving his captain’s cross, Ebroïcien defender Ruffice Kabongo allowed his team to come back. The trend was then reversed and visitors then followed the second half.
The Caennais then battled throughout the second half to keep the point of the draw, but on an insignificant action in the 75ᵉ minute, the visitors passed in front of the display. On a simple six meters, the unfortunate Caen goalkeeper inexplicably passes the ball into the feet of the opposing attacker, and not to his defender. Ikauar Mendes did not hesitate to convert the offer that had been served to him by Papa Mbaye.
AG Caen still scores in the last seconds of the match
Cornered in their camp, while mass was said for the locals. It was without counting on the tactical changes of the Caen coach which would allow his players to get back to the fore. By bringing in defender Mathis Lecerf, captain Léo Hamel was able to move up a notch. The Blue and White then obtained new situations. It was in the 90ᵉ minute that the efforts of the Avant-Gardistes were rewarded. After being caught in the box, striker Kevin Goba took care of transforming the penalty he had obtained himself. Very well shot, this penalty gives the Caen team a draw. The equalizer allows Julien Lepen’s troop to finish the year with the same number of points as Dives Cabourg and Vire. They are in twelfth place tonight and remain in the red zone.

Feedback from the coaches
Julien Le Pen (AG Caen coach): “At halftime I wouldn’t have said it was a good point. When we come back from the locker room, we are much less well, we are under pressure so we are joined. Then we offer them the second goal. I really appreciated the mental strength of the team to get the point of the draw. For our goalkeeper, this is good because he will not blame himself for the defeat. This equalization happens because we moved to them, we changed our game plan in front of more dangerous offensively. This penalty happens thanks to that, we transform it so it’s really good. Finally, it is a good point taken, not undeserved over the whole match, against a good team from Évreux. “
Romaric Bultel (trainer Évreux): “We got off to a bad start in this match, we didn’t have a good first half. That doesn’t surprise me because the players are very tired, we’ve been on the pitch for six months anyway. We played against a great team which is not in its real place in the standings. After taking this but, we said things to each other at half-time, it allowed us to equalize and have several opportunities to pass. Then there’s that frustrating penalty that comes with fatigue. The result is disappointing but logical. “
