Sweden’s party leader will bring charges against FM who hit YPG – Middle East Monitor
The head of a Swedish political party has announced that he will file a criminal report against the country’s foreign minister, after she was seen meeting the leadership of a Kurdish militia based in Syria.
Last week, Foreign Minister Ann Linde Ilham Ahmed, co-chair of the autonomous administration of the Militia People’s Protection Units (YPG), met in northeastern Syria.
As a result of that meeting, Stockholm promised to increase its funding for the US-backed YPG to $ 376 million over the course of two years. After the decision, many expected Turkey to condemn Sweden and its help by the militia, which Ankara claims is directly linked to the designated terrorist group Kurdistan’s Labor Party (PKK).
The chairman of the Swedish Nuance Party (Party Nuance), Mikail Yuksel, said that he will submit a complaint against Linde, together with other Swedes affected by her meeting.

“According to Swedish terrorism law, all types of relationships with terrorists are a crime,” says Yuksel, according to the Turkish news media. Daily Sabah. “Despite this law, Foreign Minister Linde holds meetings with members of a terrorist group, provides financial assistance and nothing happens.”
He added that the submission of a criminal report will also serve as a test of whether Swedish law is applied to only certain selected individuals or all in the country.
Yuksel, who is of Turkish origin, started his party in 2019 after being expelled from the Center Party, allegedly for not speaking out against Turkey or its government under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
His party has been a controversial point for many on the right in Sweden and abroad, and has been branded as “pro-Islamic” because part of its focus is on supporting migrant issues and tackling Islamophobia.
