Sweden celebrates National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai
Dubai: Sweden celebrated its national day at Expo 2020 Dubai on Wednesday with a royal visit by King Carl XVI Gustaf and a flag-raising ceremony at Al Wasl Plaza. King Carl XVI Gustaf, along with a number of dignitaries, was welcomed by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, United Arab Emirates Minister for Tolerance and Coexistence and Commissioner-General of Expo 2020 Dubai, and Reem Al Hashimy, Prime Minister of International Cooperation and Director-General of Expo 2020 Dubai.
King Carl XVI also congratulated the United Arab Emirates on its golden anniversary. Nordic forest
Located in the Sustainability District, the Sweden Pavilion combines a Nordic forest-inspired experience with Middle Eastern architectural style. Visitors can stroll along paths flanked by tree trunks and learn how Sweden builds smart cities, develops next-generation travel, renews life sciences and develops a biocircular economy.
The pavilion’s tree – filled design guides you through a variety of “clearings” among the stylized trunks, where interactive multimedia exhibitions explore thematic topics. The pavilion showcases the next generation of travel systems, allows visitors to immerse themselves in futuristic smart cities and listen to the authentic sounds of Sweden’s rich forest lands, topped off with a Swedish coffee.
Circus Circus
In connection with the celebration of Sweden’s national day, Cirkus Cirkor, a leading Scandinavian circus company based in Sweden, was shown in a cultural showcase, as well as the Swedish artist and songwriter Molly Sanden. Circus Circus’ performance revolved around an energetic acrobatic show.
At the same time, Sanden is known for being the singing voice of Rachel McAdam’s character in the Netflix hit, Eurovision, and she received an Oscar nomination for best original song in the film, with Husavik. The artist lent his strong voice to a Christmas song, Come Whatever, Come What May in English and sang other music numbers in Swedish.
