Gustavo Poyet : “Tout le monde voulait revenir à Bordeaux après cette fin de saison. Martin Braithwaite m’a appelé 100 fois. Soualiho Meïté pareil”
On Girondins inside the TV, Gustavo Poyet explained why Nicolas De Préville had done rather well under his orders.
“We understood the situation of each player, and it was not easy. You have to put the players in a role in the team. When a player understands his role well, after that it becomes really easy. It must be said, be honest, without hurting. […] We knew De Préville’s position, he wanted to play in front but on the left side. If he had the opportunity to arrive with his right foot in the box, it was the best in front of goal! I’m telling you ! If you saw him in practice shooting on goal, he was the best, and better than Malcom! But the problem was to put him in a position to be able to do something he knew how to do well. It was the hardest part, and it was my responsibility […] With us, it was easy, it was a relationship that we had found with the players. Sometimes, coach-player, it does not work ”.
The important thing is that the player feels good and has a role within the workforce, as was the case with other Girondins players distributed on loan.
“Everyone wanted to come back to Bordeaux after the end of the season. Martin Braithwaite called me 100 times. Soualiho Meïté the same, but we couldn’t pay, and he went to Torino for 10M €. When a player is happy in a group and there are victories, it’s easy ”.
