The European Union unanimously decided to extend the sanctions against Russia imposed due to the situation in Ukraine, reported President of the Council of Europe Charles Michel on Twitter.
“We urge Russia to fulfill its part of the behavior and adhere to the Minsk agreements,” he said. Michel also wrote that Russia will face “large-scale consequences and a harsh price” in the event of a military invasion of Ukraine.
In his resolution, adopted at the end of the meeting, caused by the buildup of the military presence there and “aggressive statements” caused by the buildup of the military presence. The Council also has its full support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Eight years of sanctions against Russia. The main thing
The EU has extended sectoral sanctions, which were first introduced in July 2014. They restrict access to European markets for Russian state-owned banks, impose an arms embargo, prohibit the export of dual-use products, and restrict access to oil technology. The package of economic sanctions was adopted in addition to the list of legal entities and individuals who in the EU were considered responsible for undermining the territorial integrity of Ukraine after the events of 2014. The persons involved in the list are also under sanctions.
