“Being president of the Junior Economic Chamber of Monaco is confusing but fascinating”
After two years at the head of the Junior Economic Chamber of Monaco (JCEM), it is time for Marion Soler to pass the torch. The opportunity for her to come back to this wonderful experience, marked by the pandemic.
When we ask Marion Soler to talk about her career, only one idea comes to mind: passion. Today Managing Director of Actis, of the Telis group, in Monaco, it is even thanks to the combination of two passions that the young woman, a lawyer by training, was able to launch her career: ” I have been a fan of U2 since I was little and I am passionate about Law, since I have always wanted to be a lawyer. So I focused my university career on data protection, intellectual property, artists’ and digital rights… the larger field of protection. “
An internship at Actis later, Marion Soler wanted to stay in the company, to the point of setting up the legal department of the company, but also of Telis and EasyOne. The opportunity for the young Azuréenne to discover the Junior Economic Chamber of Monaco and to want to take part in it. ” Everything has me more, confides the young woman. The professional side, the dynamic side… See a large group of young people who were motivated to carry out actions in Monaco in favor of the economy. I found myself in these values and I got involved, first as a member then on the Board of Directors, before taking the presidency in 2020. ”

Challenges to take up
A particular mandate, marked by the covid-19 pandemic, which exceptionally took place over two years instead of one, due to the health context. Marion therefore had to face a double challenge: to fulfill her functions of president, while locating solutions to maintain the activity of the JCEM.
” It was unsettling at first, because we had planned a lot of face-to-face projects. I was confused, I had to think about how to bounce back. And finally, it was also fascinating because it allowed us to think about new actions. It forced us to evolve »Says Marion Soler.
For example, breakfast conferences, key events of the JCEM. Traditional coffee and pastries meetings with local stakeholders have been traded for online meetings. A technical challenge to find the appropriate digital tool, but also human to communicate with stakeholders, while encouraging them to participate in these sessions.
Unfailing support from the Principality
Fortunately for her, Marion Soler, although president, did not go it alone. ” I have received a lot of support, both personal and professional. The others of the Junior Chamber were very received, very organized members. Sometimes, like any leader in any business, we have moments of loneliness because the decision is up to us at the end of the day, but all the same we all stood together to keep moving forward. ”
The Prince’s Government and the National Council have also supported the actions of the JCEM. ” For me, Monaco’s number 1 force is really the closeness we have with institutions »Explains Marion Soler. Other organizations, such as the Monaco Economic Board, the Strategic Council for Attractiveness or the Economic, Social and Environmental Council also participated in the actions initiated.
And despite the difficulties, the young woman retains only the positive of this experience. ” Health crisis or not, we have managed to set up new actions, such as mentoring for the young winners of our competitions, or events to promote business in Monaco … We have stopped others, which does not is not always easy, it is risk taking. When we are in the Junior Chamber, we have to get out of our comfort zone, it’s huge, we learn a lot. ”

Transmission, precisely, is at the center of passion. Since Wednesday, December 15, the new president of JCEM is Mélanie Dupuy. ” If she was in front of me, I would tell her to really enjoy it, to live this adventure to the fullest because we learn a lot about ourselves, about others… It’s a chance and in one year, we grow a lot. And above all, we must not have any regrets at the end »Confides the young woman.
It is therefore without regrets that Marion Soler closes this chapter as president. The opportunity for her to focus on other private passions, to the sound of With or without you, Of course.
