UN report: Around 690 million people around the world suffer from hunger
UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein has announced a cooperation with the Crypto Finance Conference (CfC St. Moritz), the most important conference for digital assets and blockchain for investors and decision-makers. Together, the partners will support Giga, a partnership between UNICEF and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) that aims to connect EVERY school to the Internet and provide every young person with access to information, opportunity and choice.
To kick off this collaboration, UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein and the CfC St. Moritz are holding an NFT auction at the upcoming CfC in St. Moritz in January 2022. Four artists – Jani Leinonen, Nadie Brehmer, Philipp Schaerer and Robertson Käppeli – will each be a unique one Create artwork exclusively for this auction. The artists will work together with the local La Stalla gallery in St. Moritz as well as with Swappable, the NFT interface, powered bylösungenwap and Metagood. The auction will consist of two parts: a pre-auction, which can be bid online, and a live auction on site at the Segantini Museum on January 13, 2022 for the participants of the CfC St. Moritz. The auction will be led by Bertold Müller, Delegate of UNICEF Switzerland & Liechtenstein and Managing Director for Continental Europe, Middle East & Africa at Christie’s.
Bidding – this goes directly to the NFT auction.
In addition, the CfC St. Moritz and UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein are planning an NFT exhibition and auction for the summer of 2022, at which the digitized works of several artists will be shown. The event WILL ALSO bring traditional artists together with blockchain experts to educate them on how to create NFTs and give artists the opportunity to capitalize on the rapidly evolving digital artwork market.
The CfC St. Moritz is a recognized platform for merging the sector of digital assets with traditional finance, politics and social affairs and has made possible the long-term financing of the Giga project in recent years. At the CfC St. Moritz 2020, Nicolo Stöhr, CEO of the CfC St. Moritz, received Chris Fabian, co-founder of the UNICEF Giga initiative and Bill Tai, founder of ACTAI, to set up the UNICEF crypto fund. This first cryptocurrency fund in the public sector has since received over 2,500 ETH and 8 BTC and invested in more than 20 early-stage tech start-ups in emerging markets.
Chris Fabian said: «The cooperation that we have established with the CfC St. Moritz gives Giga and UNICEF the urgently needed access to new industries. In 2020, the CfC St. Moritz introduced my team to Minister Ibrahima Guimba-Saidou, Special Advisor to the President of Niger. This link has created a strong collaboration and we are working closely with the Niger government after receiving millions from the World Bank for $ 100 to connect the last internet link and schools. Niger and 18 other countries are using machine learning, blockchain and other new technologies to give children who would otherwise be excluded from the digital future access to the internet. We appreciate the impact of this collaboration, not just on our own mission, but also on helping artists contribute to the fast-growing world of NFTs. ”
Nicolo Stöhr said: “Our goal is to provide a platform where investors from traditional finance and digital finance can come together with an executing company, as well as governments and regulators, and traditional banks and central banks can come together to discover new opportunities. At the same time, we want to encourage the growth of the digital asset space with a strong foundation for the common good. The NFT auction in January 2022 will bring together partners from different worlds and industries, including UNICEF, Stalla Madulain, Swappable andlösungenwap, as well as Metagood. We use the opportunities that innovations in the digital economy offer to promote connectivity between schools. “
