MOSCOW, December 17 – RIA Novosti. Russia is regaining its place as a strong player in the global agricultural market thanks to a competent program for the development of agriculture, as stated in an article entitled “Once it could not feed itself …” in the weekly Myśl Polska. “a huge country that could not feed itself, even when it was even larger, is returning to the international agricultural market,” writes the author of the publication Andrzej Szczęsnyak. According to him, in recent years Russia has been breaking records in the export of agricultural products: last year it the volume was $ 30 billion, and this grew by more than 20%. … Despite the difficulties, Russia moved forward step by step on this issue, and in 2014, the Western sanctions strike, as Shchensnyak writes, “woke up a sleeping agricultural bear.” Now we see the results of this process: Russian goods go to the world market, “he points out. So, first of all, the export of wheat began to develop, which in Russia now collects 72 million tons per year, which gives the third place after China (130 million) and India (100 million). “In general, Russia produces 120 million tons of grain per year (Poland – 34 million). This volume looks incredible if in 1998 they harvested only 48 million tons, that is, almost three times less”, – In addition, over the past five years, the yield per hectare has increased, as the emphasis is on the introduction of new technologies and methods of farming.: 80% of raw fish is processed in Russia. that it recently overtook Sweden in the export of Chocolate “, – the author points out. As the author writes, the volume of commercial production is declining from year to year, more than half of vegetables (including potatoes) are grown in farmsteads, which, in his opinion, is the “legacy of the USSR”. years, Russia will become not only a nuclear and energy, but also a food superpower “, – the author concludes.

MOSCOW, December 17 – RIA Novosti. Russia is regaining its place of strong agriculture in the global agricultural market thanks to a competent program for the development of agriculture, as stated in the article entitled “And once it could not feed itself …” Thought Poland…
“Next to us, the Food Superpower is reborn: Russia, a huge country that could not feed itself, even when it was even bigger, is returning to the international agricultural market,” writes the author of the publication Andrzej Szczęsnyak.

Government extended food embargo

According to him, in recent years, the volume of its volume amounted to $ 30 billion, and this year it has grown by more than 20%.

After the “turmoil” of the 1990s, the Russian leadership used the favorable price environment on the oil market to overcome the crisis, and already in 2004 a program for the development of agriculture appeared, the author continues. Despite the difficulties, Russia moved forward step by step on this issue, and in 2014, the Western sanctions strike, as Shchensnyak writes, “woke up a sleeping agricultural bear.”

“The ban on the import of products from Europe (the consequences of which are still painfully felt by, in particular, Polish gardeners), at the same time the emergence of a whole set of support measures from the state will play the role of a trigger. To the world market,” he points out.

So, first of all, the export of wheat began to develop, which in Russia now collects 72 million tons per year, which gives the third place after China (130 million) and India (100 million). “In general, Russia produces 120 million tons of grain per year (Poland – 34 million). Such a volume looks incredible, if in 1998 only 48 million tons were harvested, that is, almost three times less, ”recalls Szczęsnyak. In addition, over the past five years, the yield per hectare has increased, as the emphasis is on the introduction of new technologies and scientific methods of farming.
According to him, the food industry, an example of which is the fishing industry: 80% of raw fish is processed in Russia. “The potential for its food industry is demonstrated by the fact that it recently overtook Sweden in chocolate exports,” the author points out.

At the same time, Russia, according to Shchensnyak, is still unable to cope with vegetable growing. As the author writes, the volume of commercial production is declining from year to year, more than half of the vegetables (including potatoes) are grown on private farms, which, in his opinion, is the “legacy of the USSR”.

“Unless a war breaks out, in a few years Russia will become not only a nuclear and energy superpower, but also a food superpower,” the author concludes.
