In Prague, it is vaccinated without a reservation in 18 places, in the Olomouc region only in one. Pharmacists are to help iROZHLAS
Last week, the centers vaccinated a record thousand without registration for 82 people, and a week for 83,000. In relative numbers, however, interest in them is declining: less than a sixth of those interested are heading for them.
After the lethargy of summer, the number and capacity of places where it is necessary to book in advance has been rising since mid-October. This is mainly why the center’s walk-in share of the total number of vaccinated doses fell from 25 percent in mid-October to the current 15 percent, although in absolute terms their performance has doubled over the same period. The development captures an interactive graph:
Vaccinated doses of vaccine
In the Czech Republic 471 active vaccination sites, of which 84 give injections without prior order. While there are about eighteen in Prague, only two operate in the similarly populous Moravian-Silesian Region, and even only one in the Olomouc Region.
Differences in availability are probably reflected in the vaccination statistics overall. While in the capital 61.3% of the population has completed vaccination, in the Olomouc and Moravian-Silesian regions it is only just over half (55.4 and 56.1 percent).
At the beginning of December, the government of Andrej Babiš rejected the proposal to reopen a large-capacity center in Prague’s O2 arena. The central military hospital that operated them there in the spring no longer has the capacity to do so: “Staff are fully busy caring for patients with covid-19 and testing for SARS-CoV-2,” a spokeswoman said.
At the same time, the current vaccination capacities are no longer sufficient for the growing influx of applicants, especially those on the third dose. By the end of the year, more than 400,000 people will be eligible for the booster each week. The “queue” for PIN2 is already being extended, which allows registered persons to choose the date of vaccination: 137,000 people were waiting for him on Tuesday.
“The state, in cooperation with other actors, must ensure authorization for up to 150,000 doses per day, make vaccination-free without registration and simplify registration, for example, to do it in advance or automatically, so-called opt-out. And involve a maximum of vaccination centers, outpatient and other specialists. Otherwise, at the crucial time of the epidemic, spending will lag significantly behind the willingness and possibilities of voluntary vaccination, “warns soociolo Daniel Prokop.
The government resigned on Monday after nine months approved change of law on the protection of public health, which should allow vaccination in pharmacies or dentists. According to the proposal of the initiative Doctors Help the Czech Republic, they could have a time set aside for vaccinations, when patients would come to their offices without an order via central reservation system.
The applicant was attracted by 1 batch and 0 PINs
Comparing vaccine data with and without registration, which avoids the confusing and imperfectly functioning registration system, can be attractive for the 18-29 age group as well as the over-65s. One reason may be the problem with user-friendly process.
Especially in the early days of unregistered vaccination, the more frequent use of the Janssen single-dose vaccine may have been another attraction. This makes up one-eighth of vaccinated doses without registration, but only one of forty injections with registration.
“The advantage is that I don’t have to deal with the second dose of the vaccine and I will do what the state demands of me,” one of those waiting in line in front of the center in Prague at the Central Station told reporters in November. Not even the information about a faster withdrawal of immunity stifled her: “Who knows what she will approve of again. In addition, there will be a new government that may see it differently. “
One week later, the Ministry of Health – still under the leadership of Adam Vojtěch – actually began sending out SMS missed people to people with a single-dose vaccine to be revaccinated after only two months. At the same time, vaccination with this vaccine is still ongoing, even in December gets several people every day.
The Bulovka University Hospital, which operates the vaccination center in Prague’s Central Station, stopped using Janssen last week. The hospital offered five thousand unused doses to general practitioners who showed interest in them.
The number of people vaccinated by the individual centers operating without registration cannot be ascertained from the structure of the published data. They contain totals only at the level of their operators, most often large hospitals that also operate traditional centers with registration. Nationwide, most doses of the vaccine without registration were administered by healthcare professionals from St. Anny in Brno.
