Amsterdam number of booster shots to 15,000 per day
With the newly opened XXL vaccination location in the RAI, GGD Amsterdam is preparing for 15,000 booster shots per day. In this way, Amsterdam can comply with the order from the Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport to give everyone over the age of 18 who wishes a booster shot before the end of January 2022. This afternoon Alderman Simone Kukenheim (Zorg) paid a visit to the new XXL vaccination location.
The RAI has opted for one centrally located and easily accessible location in the city in order to be able to serve as many people as possible as quickly as possible. Men can still go for the booster at the vaccination locations Plein 40-45, Anton de Komplein, Buikslotermeerplein and in Amstelveen. All locations are also open during the holidays. However, there are adjusted opening hours.
Alderman Kukenheim (Zorg): “With this acceleration, we hope to protect as many Amsterdammers as possible as soon as possible, especially now that we protect with the new – even more future maker – omikron variant. The GGD is working hard to help everyone get a booster shot. RIVM indicates which people can make an appointment. This goes by year of birth. I call on everyone to get this extra protection, for yourself and your loved ones. Let’s take care of each other, especially in this time.”
By appointment only
People who are up for the booster shot can make an appointment online. By taking all one by appointment, the amount is doubled compared to free walk-in. When making an appointment, a lot of (administrative) preparatory work is already done online. This allows more boosters to be placed on the locations.
Due to the acceleration of the booster campaign, making an appointment may take longer. GGD Amsterdam is doing everything it can to provide everyone with a booster shot as soon as possible.
First and second shot
Free entry is still possible at the Plein 40-45, Anton de Komplein and RAI locations to obtain the first or second shot. The information teams will continue to work in the city districts to inform people about vaccinations and answer questions. The mobile phones are used to give the most vulnerable populations in healthcare institutions a booster shot
