Index – Domestic – 95 passengers watched as they left at Liszt Ferenc Airport
A windy-filled Wizz Air plane landed in Berlin, but not because seats were not sold out, but because 95 people had left Budapest.
For the Budapest-Berlin flight departing at 11:05, the admissions officer spoke to one of the passengers who did not have the necessary documents to enter Germany. According to the passengers, after the dispute, the airline employee closed the boarding after 84 people and then registered in the system that 95 passengers did not show up or did not have the said document. But the 95 passengers were there, watching the plane take off, Telex said.
Wizz Air attributed the incident to the fact that more than 50 passengers did not have the requested document and were therefore unable to board the flight. According to the official statement:
On the morning of December 15, the Wizz Air flight between Budapest and Berlin did not have a completed PLF (passenger locator form) document, which is a mandatory condition for entering Germany.
They added that this protocol was prescribed by Germany, not the airline, so they were forced to refuse boarding. It has been written that they are currently working to reassign as many affected passengers as possible to other flights as soon as possible and to provide accommodation and board for those who need it.
But the passengers stated quite differently, saying they had all the necessary documents along with their valid ticket. There were also some who had already had their ticket scanned and had an entry ticket (Einreisemeldung), but were still not allowed on the plane. Passengers refused to leave the area around the gate until the employee called police. After that, the crew left the counter, passengers were not given official information.
Passengers said no one asked them about digital entry reporters, considering they hadn’t even gotten to the gate where they would have been checked, among other things. Telex then asked Wizz Air how many passengers were able to leave in the end and how many remained in Budapest, but previously the airline did not want to comment in addition to the offer.
