Debrecen – The team of the students of accounting of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Debrecen took second place in the final of the János Bosnyák National Memorial Competition at the Corvinus University in Budapest.
This year, for the third time, the János Bosnyák National Memorial Competition for students studying accounting, finance and taxation in the Carpathian Basin was organized by the Luca Pacioli Association.

27 teams of three people and 81 participants from almost all parts of Hungary – as well as from Partium and Transylvania – entered the competition.
Ildikó Tamásné Orbán Dékán, Head of the Department of Accounting, Faculty of Economics, University of Debrecen, said that representatives of several companies and professional organizations took part in compiling the task sets for the two-round competition.
– In the high-quality competition, the competitors solved the problems corresponding to the professions we take care of. In the first round, an accounting, financial, and tax case study had to be prepared for an essay. In this, the participants explained the line of thought, explained and substantiated the conclusions, and also made a presentation slide show. Our team did well, so they made it to the finals, where seven teams fought each other, the head of department explained.
In the second round of videoconferencing due to the epidemic, the professional jury expected the case study submitted in the first round to be presented by the competitors in a maximum of 15 minutes, after which lightning questions had to be answered.
The third place winner of the competition is Corvinus University of Budapest “Marcsello Kft.” became a team called.
The members of the University of Debrecen called “√2” – members: Józsa Priscilla, master’s degree in accounting, Áron Bedő and Tamás Buzás, undergraduate students in finance and accounting – graduated in the second place.
Their prize was 360 thousand forints in cash. The victory was won by the team of “Taxpayers”, also from Corvinus University.
The special prize of HUF 150,000 for the team presenting the best presentation was also awarded by the jury to the team of the University of Debrecen.
