Why will you (perhaps) hear a detonation near Rouen during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday?

Tuesday, December 14, 2021, a important detonation will be heard at Oissel (Seine-Maritime), at the end of the evening. Do not panic, everything is planned: it will be the consequence of the demolition of the concrete “urea” tower, 60 meters high, scheduled for 11:15 pm precisely. Located on the site of the Chemical Company of Oissel (the Azolacq plant), it will be destroyed using “low explosive charges”, said the company, which has planned measures to limit the inconvenience.
A boulevard closed to traffic
A “material mattress to cushion the fall” and misters will thus be installed, to reduce the noise of the retention, the effect of vibrations and the propagation of dust. Dambourney Boulevard will be closed to traffic from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., and detours will be put in place.
A second tower will disappear from the landscape in January 2022: the “nitrate” tower in metal, 75 meters high, which will be dismantled during the day using mechanical devices. The SCO specifies that “these operations, prepared with the greatest attention to the safety of workers and surrounding residents, are organized in consultation with the local authorities concerned”.
The dismantling of the site should be completed by mid-2022.
