The government resigns in the case of Budapest Airport
The issue of migration and the rule of law was thoroughly and exhaustively discussed, Viktor Orbán said at the V4-France summit in Budapest on Monday. At a press conference following the conciliation between the Visegrad countries (V4: Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia) and France, the Prime Minister emphasized that Emmanuel Macron had outlined their plans and objectives before the start of the French EU presidency.
At the event in the Castle Garden Bazaar, the Prime Minister expressed that they spoke thoroughly and exhaustively about migration, thoroughly, exhaustively and passionately about the rule of law, the Western Balkans, energy, and nuclear energy. it was also about the future of the ETS energy billing system, he added.
He said it was a very rare opportunity for us to be able to talk openly about such important issues. On behalf of the V4 countries, he thanked the French President for his openness and foresight, for giving him the opportunity to reflect on the key objectives of the French Presidency.
Answering a question, Viktor Orbán said that there are serious debates between the French president and him, “these are sometimes heated debates, but I like them”. A debate is only bad, “if there is no quality in it”, if a debate is quality, it is good, and he is trying to have quality debates with the President of France. He said.
He said: this means that respect is always given to the President of France, partly because of his personality and partly because the French presidents in Hungary “have a great deal”. In Hungary, De Gaulle is a “standard”, a school-creating master; In 1998, when they first won an election, Giscard d’Estaing was here to campaign, working with Jacques Chirack, and Nicolas Sarkozy’s attachment to Hungary is well known, he listed. He emphasized that he therefore honored Macron and France for not commenting on French domestic policy.
He mentioned: Hungary is a state governed by the rule of law, the operation of the secret services is also governed by the rule of law, they are always observed. “When we started politics, that wasn’t the case yet, as we come from resistance to the Communist,” “we came into politics from the world of freedom fighters and street fighters,” he said.
The Prime Minister also answered a question: Hungary’s economic performance and financial position are measured by the market. The eurozone is “a very lukewarm, pleasant” place where the Stability and Growth Pact tells us what to do, “but the market is cold and cruel,” he explained. He added: “we have to stand there” and measure the value and strength of the Hungarian economy in the current financial markets. Viktor Orbán stated that “we are doing well for the time being”, but we need to pay attention to the budget deficit.
He announced the repurchase of Ferihegy Airport: now he sees that
this deal is by no means easy to handle before the election, given high inflation and the uncertainty of the international financial situation. “So we’ll wait for the election and then we’ll decide.”
– He told.
Viktor Orbán also talks about the fact that for political reasons Hungary will not receive the amount that would come from the last recovery fund. It is completely unacceptable for the European Commission to ask for an amendment to the Family Law and Education Act. “What has this got to do with relaunching the European economy, what has this got to do with using money wisely?” He suggested.
He stated that “we are the victims of a political blackmail”, but the Hungarian economy is strong enough to survive for a long time without this money. Every program they wanted to start with the money started their own budget, the Hungarian economy and the Hungarian people are not disadvantaged by the blackmail in Brussels, he said.
Viktor Orbán also said: Hungary was the only one that said that if necessary, the border should be protected with physical force, and thus not only Hungary, but the whole of Europe would be protected.

“We didn’t get a single good word, in fact, we had to suffer the harshest attacks.” While defending Europe’s borders, we were “regularly shot in the back from Brussels and some European capitals.”
– formulated.
He emphasized: but Hungary never complained, lamented, was offended, but did its thing, knowing that it was not only defending itself, but also Europe.
He thought now that it was time to make some account. It will not work that in the future the country will have to mobilize serious costs to defend itself, the Schengen border and Europe. It is time for the European Union to show some solidarity, he says.
He said: “so far we have only shown solidarity with the other members of the European Union and Brussels, they have not with us”. It would be time for them to be fairly accounted for, and the cost of defending Europe, depending on whether it falls on a country, will be fairly accounted for and they will receive at least half of the cost of defending Europe to Hungarian citizens so far – Viktor Orbán.
