SETE: BAZR pop festival at Christmas, a nice result
The BAZR festival closed its 9th edition on Sunday evening after three days during which creators and artists exhibited, performed, played, cooked, made up and met the public, under a beautiful winter sun and in the heart of Sète.
Despite the context, BAZR has developed its programming and welcomed visitors and spectators thanks to the support of its partners, the motivation of festival-goers and the dedication of teams and volunteers.
The Christmas market always has a larger crowd eager to discover alternative consumption and original crafts. Nearly 5,000 people are venues for the festival and its Christmas market between Friday and Sunday. The concerts on the Roquerols were sold out (750 admissions over the 3 evenings), as were the children’s shows in the morning (160 admissions Saturday and Sunday combined), the screening of Laurent Garnier’s film at the Comoedia Cinema (150 admissions) and Le Grand Repas des Familles (200 meals served).
As for the organization and the public, everyone experienced a BAZR newly installed in the heart of the city on a site which facilitated various arrangements, an artist residency with restitution – Semaphore with Clarice Calvo-Pinsolle – and better circulation from one space to another. The flagship and its mooring port also enabled festival-goers from all over Occitania to invest BAZR and its project in a different way, whether they came with family or friends. We will retain from this BAZR the beauty of the concert of Gaspar Claus at the opening, the galvanizing set of Superpitcher, the raw energy and psyche of Zombie Zombie, the aerial performances of the Concordance company, the generosity of Laurent Garnier, the good atmosphere diffused under the Big Top with Piñata Radio and the carnival of pretty curiosities on the Christmas market.
Next year BAZR celebrates its 10th anniversary!
