Pd Siena council group: “Why sell the sports field at the Fonti d’Ovile?”
Presented by the Pd council group of Siena (Alessandro Masi – Luca Micheli – Giulia Periccioli – Bruno Valentini) a question about the sale of the sports field at the Fonti d’Ovile. “In February 2020 – reads the question – the councilor for public education Paolo Benini declared:” I had the football field of Ravacciano (next to the Fonti d’Ovile) removed from the list of municipal goods for sale “. On the contrary, the council has included the aforementioned campino in the list of municipal assets destined for sale, for a value of 70 thousand euros; the urban area in which the aforementioned sports facility is inserted is urbanistically classified as a “public space”, or more specifically as a “public” area arranged in green areas in which there may be spaces equipped for play, for the practice of base, as well as kiosks, toilets and small buildings necessary for the use and management of these areas; there are two projects (one financed with the Periferie Bando and one with the Horizon Bando) aimed at enhancing the Ravacciano valley, which could allow the financing of the recovery of the Fonti di Ovile area, including the sports facility “.
The Democratic Party asks the Mayor “if it was really necessary, given the small amount of possible collection, to deprive oneself of a potential public plant in a particularly deficient area of ββthe city, and why the possibility of leaving the plant to public ownership was not examined, entrusting it in management to grassroots sports associations “. Finally, he asked whether “the regularity of the sale to private individuals of an area defined urbanistically as a public space was assessed, moreover with constraints that could hinder the free use of the property for potential buyers”.
