While the Region voted on the LGV financing plan, the president of the Lot-et-Garonne departmental council is sticking to her position.
Ahead of the debate on the LGV financing plan adopted on Monday by the regional council, President Alain Rousset gave an interview to our newspaper. Asked about the position of Lot-et-Garonne, namely the non-participation in financing, President Rousset said: “These are procrastination that I regret because it is not up to the stake for all our territories ”. This Wednesday, invited to react on the decision taken by New Aquitaine, Sophie Borderie the map of consistency by not moving a millimeter from her position and discreetly slipping one or two banana peels. The president of Lot-et-Garonne recalls that on October 22, 2021, the departmental assembly of Lot-et-Garonne unanimously decided to “refuse any financial participation in the GPSO project”. An “unequivocal” decision. “On November 22,” she adds, “in support of this sovereign deliberation, I was part of Prefect Guyot’s surprise at the mention of the Lot-et-Garonne Department in the financing plan and told him therefore asked to remove our community from the list of financiers ”.
“We made our choices, in responsibility”
She indicates that on November 26, the assembly adopted, “again unanimously”, an exceptional plan dedicated to “itineraries and trips of”. It will require a minimum investment of around 120 million euros.
“As far as we are concerned,” continues the president, “we have always been clear and unanimous on this subject, without ever procrastinating. We never had any ulterior motives to haggle anything. The “expected” level of participation now of 52 million does not change anything. All the more so as to this must be added the 30 million euros of direct taxes levied by the State in addition to taxpayers from Lot-et-Garonnais! “And to conclude:” We made our choices, in responsibility, by assuming our priorities, by having at heart to keep our commitments, by taking into account what is sustainable for the departmental finances, and this in the only interest of the Lot -and-Garonnais. “
