KNVB after corona measures: ‘The Netherlands will not be for sports’ football
“Even in the weeks, you can only exercise until 5 p.m.,” says the largest sports association in the Netherlands. “Not everyone can do that and many athletes have dropped out due to these measures. This is apparent from research by sports umbrella organization NOC*NSF. Between the ages of 5 and 18, half of them started exercising less or stopped completely. Youth has no outlet.”
“It has decided without any future substantiation to reach the public in the stadiums in the Netherlands,” the association continues. “This makes the Netherlands an exception in Europe, where there are actual spectators in the stands almost everywhere. Dutch sports enthusiasts are therefore allowed to visit their Dutch favorites abroad.”
Fresh air
The KNVB also reiterates that stadium visits and amateur football have never led to corona fires. “Everyone is in the fresh air. Exercising yourself is healthy. It contributes to a better resistance and the risk of heart disease, diabetes, obesity and problems is reduced.”
The cabinet will explain the measures for the production weeks on Tuesday evening (7 p.m.). It is almost certain that sports will remain after 5 pm (apart from top sports) and audiences in stadiums are not allowed. The Feyenoord – Ajax match in the Eredivisie will be played without an audience next weekend.
