Doctors from Alpes-Maritimes and Monaco call for vaccination against Covid to become compulsory for adults
Eighteen executives from hospitals and clinics in the Alpes-Maritimes and Monaco signed a forum. They are calling on the unvaccinated to take the plunge, or the state to make vaccination of adults compulsory.
Their initial observation is simple: “We are sadly seeing once again that a fifth wave of Covid is leading to a significant and worrying increase in hospital burden across the country. “
The signatory doctors registered on the figures of Public Health France : in the Alpes-Maritimes, as of Sunday, December 12, 2021, 275 Covid patients were hospitalized. 37 of them in intensive care. 24 hours later, Monday, December 13, there were 290 in the hospital, including 66 in sheaves.
The white plan was once again in hospitals with, as a lever for action, the deprogramming of non-Covid patients.
Eighteen doctors, all at the head of the medical commission of the establishment which employs them, in the public, in the private sector, in the Alpes-Maritimes, in Monaco, have signed this appel published in Nice Matin:
We expect unvaccinated people to go as quickly as possible to a vaccination center, to their attending physician, their pharmacy in order to benefit from a first dose of vaccine. (…) If the acceleration of the first vaccine doses should not be observed very quickly, we will have no signal to the State to take its responsibilities and to put in place the conditions for an obligation to vaccinate adults like this. are now being considered in several European countries.
Doctor Jérôme Barrière, president of the medical commission for the establishment of the Polyclinique Saint-Jean in Cagnes-sur-Mer, is at the origin of this forum. In his clinic, one in three floors is already reserved for Covid patients, cared for by staff “already exhausted by previous waves”.
The doctor finds that “80% of them are not vaccinated.” “This minority, these 5 million people are at very high risk of having a form which brings them to the hospital. If individually the risk is low, collectively it is high.”, he explains to us.
We will again run out of beds or staff to take care of the other pathologies. (…) Putting the weight of personal choices on the health of all very widely vaccinated citizens becomes, after a decline in the tolerance of anti-Covid vaccines, unacceptable in terms of public health.
doctor Jérôme Barrière.
The doctors who signed this forum also ask the State to promote the installation of systems to transform the air in hospitals, schools and businesses, “The airborne risk is now formally identified as the main mode of propagation of the virus”.
