For the first time, one of Europe’s largest world music showcase festivals will feature a film program. The festival is announcing a competition for bands, and a creative concept of music films is waiting for the organizers.
Budapest will be the capital of world music again in a few days next spring – the Budapest Ritmo event of the Bartók Spring International Art Weeks, as the most important showcase festival in the region, has been a place of great encounters and surprising musical discoveries for years. For the first time, the 2022 festival will also feature a music film program, in the framework of which the organizer Hangvető will announce a competition for the production of music films that go beyond concert films and video clips.
Budapest Ritmo is waiting for the creative film competitions of musicians and orchestras: musicians and orchestras composing in world and folk music or in their borders can apply with a creative film concept, with ideas that represent artistic value, a concept beyond the traditional framework, and an innovative, creative vision.
The application consists of two rounds: the first round will be advanced by 8 applicants, and the concept will be finalized with the help of a mentor who is also experienced in music and film. Finally, the concept of 2 applicants will be selected by a professional jury, for the implementation and presentation of which the festival will provide a framework. The finished films will be shown at Budapest’s Ritmo film program next spring.
The deadline for submission of creative concepts is midnight on January 3, 2022. Further details of the tender can be obtained from Budapest Ritmo website readable.
