Toulouse. Verbalization by cameras soon to be extended
The system extended to the entire city of Toulouse should come into operation in January 2022.
Put in place in 2016, the videotape in Toulouse concerned for the moment only the perimeter of the city center, inside the boulevards, and parking offenses: on a sidewalk, in a bus lane, in double file, etc. During the city council of October 22, Toulouse elected officials voted to extend this device, which makes it possible to issue a ticket via the city’s CCTV cameras by noting the offender’s license plate.
The perimeter is now extended to the whole city as well as to traffic offenses: prohibited directions, rodeos, etc.
Since then, the new prefectural decrees governing this system have been signed. It remains to install the panels that indicate this video overbearing. And to organize, internally, within the video PC of the city and the municipal police, the service. Video over-tagging could thus enter into force at the beginning of January 2022.
Elected in charge of the municipal police, Emilion Esnault ensures that the goal is not to sanction motorists at all times. These will be one-off missions, at certain times and in certain places, just as a foot patrol does today. These missions will depend on “calls to Allô Toulouse and accidentology”.
