Muslim couple in court for aggravated violence against daughters – Human Rights Service
It is the same, well-known lesson: the parents were terrified that the daughters would become “too Danish”. According to the indictment, the assaults on the girls must have gone away on the basis of the parents’ ethnic origin and Muslim background.
It is not mentioned in Danish Expressen which ethnic background has, but the probability that it is a MENAPT country (Middle East, North Africa, Pakistan, Turkey) is high.
The parents, who are 51 years old and more than 40 years old, are accused of having raised the girls with gross violence, threats and psychological terror.
Systematic error handling
The daughters are today 17, 16, 11 and three years old. The family has several children, and the siblings must have regularly witnessed the violence. These children, who we must assume are boys, must also have had to hold the girls tight while they were being abused.
According to the indictment, the girls were kicked and beaten with tools such as ladles, belts and wires on bare skin, burned with a lighter and forced to sleep with chili in their mouths. The parents destroyed the girls’ clothes, if they thought they were too “Danish”, in the sense of challenging. The girls were also forbidden to talk to Danish boys, go to the swimming pool, work or attend events organized by the school. They were daily threatened with beatings by their parents, so they feared what awaited them every time they returned home.
They were denied food and drink if their parents thought they had misbehaved. The father threatened the two eldest daughters that they would be buried alive, slaughtered or forcibly married to a cousin if they fell in love with a Danish boy or ran away from home.
Mom must have acted just as threatening as Dad. One of the daughters was threatened by mother with a kitchen knife, followed by the threat «Shall I kill you? Should I stab you down? ” She also threatened to break their legs or have their heads “split”, Expressen reports.
Muslim background
It was in July this year that the family was visited by the social services in the municipality. It does not appear why the social services take an interest in the family, but it may be that some of the girls have told someone, perhaps at school, what they are exposed to. But it is hopeful that some of the school’s employees and / or someone in the local community understood the drawing and were warned, because it is exactly the opposite as it is in Sweden: more and more people are withdrawing, even though they both see and understand.
The family lives in Sorø, a town of just over 8,000 inhabitants, west of Copenhagen. With others, the city is so small that it should be entirely possible to discover that the girls were abused in the worst way.
After the social services had visited, the parents must have gone crazy against that of the daughters, it is stated in the indictment. They were pulled by the hair, beaten and kicked in the face and on the body. The 11-year-old was beaten and kicked in the stomach while she was lying on the floor, where her father is also said to have trampled her on the arm. The reaction against the 11-year-old may indicate that she was the one who had contributed to the girls receiving help.
The parents refuse for all the guilt, and it may be that they do not feel that they have done something «wrong». They come from a culture of violence where abusing children, not least daughters, into the culture of honor is both accepted and expected.
This may be why the indictment is clear that the violence against the daughters is due to the parents’ origins and their Muslim background. It is doubtful whether something like this would be written in black and white in a Norwegian or Swedish indictment.
The prosecution has made a reservation to demand that the couple be deported. Judgment in the case falls on 16 December.
