Media platform .cult launches documentary about expat life in Amsterdam
The media platform for developers .cult comes with a new DevCities documentary about a day in the life of two expat developers in Amsterdam. .cult, also known as the ‘Netflix for developers’, is a platform envisioned to bring developers together. The developer community in the Netherlands largely consists of expats and this number is only increasing due to the large shortage of good IT staff in our country. In order to attract even more IT professionals from abroad to the Dutch business community, .cult shows what life is like for developers in Amsterdam with this documentary.
The media platform .cult is an initiative of Honeypot, the European job platform for developers. The short documentaries ‘DevCities’ are about a day with developers in a city. In DevCities Amsterdam Valerie and Lorenzo tell about how they made a career switch to developer at WeTransfer, what their favorite places are in Amsterdam and what life is like as a developer in the Netherlands. This episode of DevCities is about two developers at WeTransfer who both ended up in tech later in their careers. Filmed during office hours in Amsterdam, they show the city telling about their struggles to gain their place in the industry, changing careers and life as a developer in the Netherlands.
.cult regularly releases short documentaries about the life of developers in various European cities, such as Berlin, Munich and Paris. To tackle the shortage of IT staff in the Netherlands, developers from abroad are needed who want to change careers. Honeypot hopes with the DevCities documentaries to inspire people to consider the developer profession and to start working in a developer city like Amsterdam.
