Lyon Festival of Lights (Rhône) ended on Saturday, December 11, 2021, and many people gathered in the capital of Gaul despite the very strong epidemic rebound that is raging in the Rhône.
The Sytral recorded a huge attendance during the four days of celebration, with over 6.5 million trips accounted for on the TCL network.
Reinforced system and 2,000 agents mobilized
Sytral is pleased to have put in place an exceptional system to transport tourists and Lyonnais to the illuminations during these four evenings, in particular by extending the subways until 2 a.m.
“I would particularly like to thank all of the 2000 TCL agents mobilized every evening around this fluid, secure system adapted to this extraordinary influx on our network”, added Bruno Bernard, president of Greater Lyon, by means of a press release.
The Festival of Lights was also 2 million visitors, or more than during the 2019 edition. This despite the Covid-19 and the rain. The “Rabbit on the Moon” show brought together the most people: nearly 200,000 spectators every evening on the Place des Terreaux.
