“For 2022 requests from Europe and Australia”
“For 2022 we have received registration applications from Australia, Norway, Belgium, Switzerland and Hungary”. With these words the scientific director of the Master in Perioperative Medicine for the Elderly offered by the University of the Republic of San Marino, Gabriella Bettelli, concludes the 2021 cycle of the training course and sets up, together with Antonio Crucitti and Nicolò Scuderi, with whom she shares the guide of the initiative, the new edition scheduled for next year: last Saturday, December 11, eight figures including geriatricians, surgeons and anesthetists from different parts of the peninsula have in fact completed the specialization program a ceremony that involved students and teachers in the headquarters of the Ex Tribunal, in the historic center of the Titano. “The students – explains the academician – presented theses that focused on the one hand on a project dedicated to the hospital to be carried out in their own hospital, on the other on analyzes to improve the reality in which one works and refine hence the activities in the wards, obtain better clinical results, obtain patients and reduce costs ”. In addition to being involved in the field as a doctor, Bettelli is involved in several research projects and participates in Italian and international task forces operating in areas such as the promulgation of guidelines in anesthesia for the treatment of elderly people undergoing surgery, thus contributing to a Updated, current and innovative Master. “I think that this training initiative is unique in Italy and supported at European level only by the Sorbonne in Paris”, he explains. “We aim to involve not only professionals from abroad, but also Italian surgeons, anesthetists, geriatricians and nurses, with a virtuous path that qualifies our country as a leader in this area and in accordance with the fact that, together with Japan, indicates Italy as the longest-lived reality in the world. Our roots – he underlines – must be preserved in the best possible way “. To do this, the contribution of figures such as Crucitti, from the Catholic University of Rome, appears to be strategic: “In the capital he directs a surgery department at the Cristo Re Hospital, where elderly patients are treated with cutting-edge techniques”.
