Continente is launching a premium range of dried fruits
Portuguese retailer Continent has launched a range of premium dried fruits under the ‘Os Originals’ brand.
The offer, which is exclusive to Continente stores, includes pistachio with Flor de Sal, roasted almonds, Mozambique Raw cashew nuts, walnuts with chili and Dos Himalaias or Pinhão Nacional salt.
The brand focuses on the quality of the origin of ingredients in each segment and plans to launch several products, recipes and formats at competitive prices.
Product categories
The products in the ‘Os Originals’ palette are categorized and each is color-related.
Green represents natural dried fruit, orange for spicy dried fruit, purple for dehydrated dried fruit, and gold for seasonal ranges.
The brand wants to democratize the consumption of quality dried fruit with a distinctive character that is accessible to all.
The goal of this move is to promote access to nutritionally balanced, unprocessed products that ensure healthy pampering.
It comes at a time when Portuguese consumers are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of their food and its impact on health and the environment.
Sonae, the parent company of Continente, reported a 32.5% jump in net profit in the third quarter, supported by solid sales following the gradual easing of restrictions due to the coronavirus.
Net profit was € 96 million ($ 111.01 million) in July-September, as the country continued to phase out coronavirus restrictions and sales of its Sonae MC food retail unit rose 5.3% to 1.38 billion euros.
