Businessmen in Europe and the United States opposed the Russian law on testing foreigners for syphilis and leprosy
Several European and American business associations oppose the new law.
The letter from the heads of foreign business associations, including the US Chamber of Commerce and the Association of European Businesses, was sent to First Deputy Government Andrei Belousov and Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova.
“For a long time, no legislative act has caused such a huge wave of misunderstanding, chagrin and indignation among thousands of foreign managers. told the agency Bloomberg Chairman of the German-Russian Chamber of Commerce Matthias Schepp.
Maxim Reshetnikov said that on Monday he said that this was not the case.
The US Chamber of Commerce and the BBC European Business Association confirmed that the letter was sent to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation.
The document developed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs is to enter into force on December 29. In accordance with the law, from this date they undergo an X-ray examination and take urine and blood tests.
The document approves a list of infectious diseases that pose a danger to others. It included, in particular, tuberculosis, leprosy (leprosy), syphilis and HIV infection.
In addition, foreigners living in Russia must take drug tests. All these requirements apply to their family members from the age of seven.
Since July 1 this year, the rules for fingerprinting have also changed in Russia: now all labor migrants and foreigners who enter Russia for more than 90 days are required to submit their fingerprints to the authorities within a month. Exceptions were made only for highly qualified specialists and employees of foreign companies.
However, in November, the Ministry of Internal Affairs proposed expanding the categories of migrants who undergo fingerprinting, including top managers and employees of foreign companies, as well as foreigners acquiring Russian citizenship.
