Memories of Bishop Kerimel, leaving for Toulouse after 17 years at the head of the Grenoble-Vienne diocese
“I said to myself: there is always a risk of moving, but at 68 years old, I did not expect it anymore!“. It is with humor that Monsignor Guy de Kerimel wishes to bid farewell to the Catholics of his diocese. A humor that necessarily hides a lot of emotions. “The official announcement came as a shock to some, who really weren’t expecting it. There were a few tears, a lot of reactions, thanks.“His link with the Carthusians, the young people of the Saint-Joseph church … In 17 years, he has a lot of memories. “There are the pilgrimages to La Salette, the large gathering at Alpexpo in 2013 where there were 10,000 of us, there are lots of meetings, parish visits, mountain walks … 2019 and that I entrusted the Saint-Joseph Church to them, that I saw how this community began to shine, is developing, it was a great joy. ”
“I never imagined, as a bishop, having such great joys“, he confides. Monsignor de Kerimel will give his last mass in Grenoble on Sunday 23 January, before going to Toulouse. For the moment, we do not know the name of his successor at the head of the diocese of Grenoble-Vienne, his appointment may take several months.
