Top 100 defense companies in the world: Russia is losing ground, Ukraine is stable, the US dominates the market of 531 billion dollars
Stockholm Institute for Peace Research – SIPRI, published an annual ranking of the world’s top 100 defense companies in arms sales.
It should be noted that the rating from SIPRI traditionally lags behind by one year and the new rating shows for 2020. This delay is due to the need to obtain a large amount of information and different periods of completion of financial years in different countries. Note that the ranking includes both exports and supplies of products for national needs.

At the same time, the growth of arms sales took place against the background of a decline in 2020 by 3.1%, and gunsmiths around the world have encountered logistical problems and suppliers of components.
Absolute dominance in the US arms market remains, which sold for $ 258 billion, which is 54% of the total. And the entire top of the five most successful companies in the ranking are American since 2018.
Sales of Lockheed Martin, Raytheon Technologies, Boeing, Northrop Grumman and General Dynamics together sold $ 183.380 billion in arms. Interestingly, the entire top of the list is an aerospace company, which remains the most profitable of all in the field of defense.
In second place are the top 100 Chinese companies with a result of 66,750 billion dollars, which is 2.91 billion more than in 2019.
The top three leaders are the United Kingdom – $ 38.5 billion also showed an increase of $ 2.76 billion. And the gross part of this earned British giant BAE Systems, which independently sold weapons for $ 24 billion.
But if you combine the results of companies from the European Union, the collective Europe was able to bypass London – 58.4 billion, although compared to 2019, the volume of European companies fell slightly – by 0.63 billion dollars.
The largest rapid decline was shown by companies from the Russian Federation, which ranged from 30.52 in 2019 to 26.36 billion dollars. This decline has been going on for several years after the peak in 2017, when Russia was able to occupy a record 5% of the world’s defense market.
As for Ukraine, it is the result of all state defense companies subordinated to Ukroboronprom, amounting to 1.32 billion dollars in 2020 against 1.31 billion dollars in 2019.
In total, as in the previous period – 77 positions, the position of Fujitsu with the best digital ratings in the development of German defense technology and Hensoldt with specialization in radar, optoelectronics and avionics.
