- Darmstadt 98 can dream of returning to the Bundesliga.
- After the first half of the season, the lilies are sure to be second. Meanwhile, Hannover 96 is working its way out of the table basement.
- For Ingolstadt it does not work out under the third coach this season.
Cheers in Darmstadt after the late victory in the top game, joy in Hanover over interim coach Christoph Dabrowski and frustration in Ingolstadt after the unsuccessful debut under the new coach Rüdiger Rehm. The Saturday of the last first half match day in the 2nd Bundesliga caused great emotions of all kinds.
There is euphoria at SV Darmstadt 98, who after 1-0 (0-0) at the previous fourth in the table, SC Paderborn, ended the series on a direct promotion spot. After the victory through Patrick Pfeiffer’s goal (81st), the lilies can no longer be ousted from second place in the Sunday games. Ostwestfalen are fifth, five points behind, and could slip to seventh on Sunday.
Ex-Bundesliga club Hannover was the big winner on Saturday
In the basement of the table, ex-Bundesliga club Hanover was the big winner on Saturday. Lower Saxony celebrated their second win in their second game under interim coach Dabrowski with a 2-1 (2-1) win at the bottom of the table, FC Ingolstadt, and now have six points ahead of relegation relegation place. “I was also a passionate coach of the academy. But fate had the will that I can help now, and I really enjoy it,” said Dabrowski. For Ingolstadt, on the other hand, things look bleak with only seven points, after Rüdiger Rehm’s debut as the third coach this season has also failed. The gap to 16th place is already seven points.
Meanwhile, SV Sandhausen missed a short victory, leading the 2: 2 (1: 1) at Holstein Kiel until the 83rd minute. With 14 points, the SVS ended the series safely on a direct relegation place. Kiel occupies a saving 15th place with a four point lead.
Relegated FC Schalke 04 had already celebrated important victories on Friday with a 4-1 win against 1. FC Nürnberg and Werder Bremen with a 3-2 win at Jahn Regensburg. The relegation place three after half the season will either be Schalke (29 points), 1. FC Heidenheim (27, on Sunday in Karlsruhe) or Hamburger SV (26, against Rostock).
