Prague – Doses of the covid-19 vaccine for children from the age of five should arrive in Prague on Tuesday, December 14, and vaccination will begin after they are distributed to pediatric practitioners and vaccination sites. The Prague vaccination coordinator Martin Ježek told ČTK today. Vaccination registration will open for younger children on Monday.
“Prague leaves it up to the parents of the children whether they will be vaccinated by general practitioners or whether they will use the offer of vaccination centers,” said Ježek. He added that parents will be able to use, for example, hospitals in Motol and Krč and the Metropolitan Vaccination Center in Vyšehrad from vaccination places in the metropolis. According to him, six thousand doses will arrive at the hospitals in Motol and Krč, and the city has ordered another 12,000 doses for other places.
According to the coordinator, 250 child practitioners are registered for vaccination in the metropolis, and the city has not yet mapped how many of them plan to offer vaccination for smaller children. According to him, the use of practitioners is a more suitable way for parents, because pediatricians usually know patients from birth and the hectic environment of vaccination centers can be stressful for children.
