Messias says Milan showed greatness in the Champions League despite coming out
AC Milan striker Junior Messias said the Italian side’s performances in the Champions League showed the future was bright, despite ending their campaign with a loss to a second-tier Liverpool side in a must-see match.
The seven-time European champions marked their return to elite club competition after a seven-year absence this season, but were eliminated on Tuesday after a 2-1 home loss to the Premier League that left the Rossoneri in bottom of group B.
The result left a bitter taste for the home side, who performed poorly against a heavily modified Liverpool side without many of their star players, but Messias would not be disheartened.
“We knew it was a tough game. It wouldn’t have been easy to beat Liverpool, but we really wanted to win and we gave it our all. Unfortunately, it didn’t go well, ”the Brazilian told Milan TV.

“We have to look to the future and continue to play like we do, like we did in the Champions League. We have shown that we are a great team and we have to bring it into the league. We are a very strong team and we can think big. “
Milan lead Serie A, one point ahead of Inter Milan, and travel to midfield Udinese on Saturday.

“We have a tough game ahead of us, as they all are. The teams facing us always try to play the game of their lives. We have to play as we know how to play, ”added Messias.
