In Granada near Toulouse: the street deal and by appointment was paying off
After several months of investigation, the gendarmes of the Toulouse-Mirail company dismantled a drug trafficking network in Grenada. Five suspects including two minors were indicted. Three suspects were jailed.
Months of surveillance, hours and hours of listening and Wednesday, at the beginning of the afternoon, the gendarmes took action in Granada. A spectacular and rather unusual operation for this town in the northeast of the Toulouse metropolitan area not really known for its delinquency. “Except that it had been going on for months and it was unbearable,” says a resident. Witness to the exasperation of his fellow citizens, the mayor Jean-Paul Delmas, had alerted the prefect and the prosecution last year.
Since then, regulars in the center of Granada observed incidents linked to this traffic “too regularly” and the calls for patience were not always well understood. “For several months, the population complained and came to see me to know when an intervention of the police,” says the mayor of Granada. “This action by the gendarmerie was therefore very much appreciated. “
In fact, discreetly, the gendarmes of the Toulouse-Mirail company, in particular the gendarmes of Grenada and their colleagues from the research brigade, placed their pawns. Physical surveillance and numerous eavesdropping made it possible to establish drug trafficking over 18 months. Through a point of sale in Grenada but also deliveries at the request of customers who are visibly satisfied with being able to buy cannabis, resin and herb far from the cities of Toulouse, but also cocaine.
The gendarmes arrested seven, including four in the streets of Granada – two even reported at the bar. The searches revealed 3.9 kg of cannabis, resin and herb, 40 g of cocaine plus € 3,500 in cash. Weapons, of the soft air type, were also seized.
This Friday, at the end of their police custody, five people including two minors were presented to the Toulouse examining magistrate who had been seized by the prosecution on November 22. Indicted for offenses against narcotics legislation, two minors were placed under judicial supervision and three adults were placed under arrest warrant by the judge of freedoms and detention. A 25-year-old man, already convicted of illicit drug-related activities, is considered to be the thinker and the organizer of this team of traffickers whose monthly turnover was estimated by the gendarmes at 75,000 euros .
