Process, rejected except for prescription of Gatti. Hearings continue
ANTONIO FABBRI – Second hearing, Tuesday, for the trial that sees the former secretaries of state, Gabriele Gatti and Clelio Galassi, accused, on charges of money laundering believed to be the result of alleged corruption episodes linked to the events in the Tavolucci Office Center; of the licensing of EuroCommercialBank and of the Wonderfood headquarters. In the second hearing the trial continued with the preliminary objections, in particular brought forward by the defense of Gabriele Gatti. (…)
The law commissioner Simon Luca Morsiani, in fact, accepting the requests of the Attorney’s Office and Tax Prosecutor regarding the contestation of the continuation of the crime, rejected the defense’s objection and ordered to proceed further. The trial will therefore continue on February 9, 2022, with the hearing of the first witnesses. The judge authorized the Tax Prosecutor to draw up, based on the relevance of the charges, a general framework for the hearings of the witnesses. Then the judge will first make a provision for the admission or not of the witnesses and then will summon them for the various hearings. The defense, in addition to substantial documentary acquisitions, requested to listen to, among others, Gatti’s former colleagues in the State Congress. Also set additional hearing dates for February 16 and 24, 2022.
