Heavy snowfalls lead to problems in road traffic in Salzburg
The snowfall that started on Thursday night led to problems and delays in road traffic in the state of Salzburg.
Dozens of clearing vehicles have already been in use since the night to make the traffic routes passable according to the circumstances. Nevertheless, slush and snow lanes can be expected on all streets in the state of Salzburg.
There were traffic jams in early morning traffic, among other things, in Flachgau and the entry routes towards the city of Salzburg between Anthering and Bergheim and near Elixhausen.
And something about this weather situation is only likely to change during the course of the day. In the morning there is widespread a few centimeters of fresh snow and in most of Salzburg it snows again and again during the day, at times also heavily. Problems can arise on the roads and the risk of avalanches increases in the mountains.
In the Lungau it stops snowing in the afternoon. In the rest of the country, too, the snowfall subsides in the late afternoon or at night. The temperatures reach the highest minus 3 to plus 2 degrees during the day.
But then it clears up, that is: at night there is sometimes strong frost from minus 14 (Lungau) to minus 4 degrees (north).
Snow chains are compulsory on higher roads, in some cases for all vehicles (follow the signs): B 165 Gerlos Straße between Wald and the top of the pass, Gerlos Alpenstraße, B 164 Hochkönig Straße, L 112 Rauriser Landesstraße, L 266 Embacher Landesstraße, B 161 Pass Thurn Street, L 273 Eschenauer Landesstraße,
