During the last municipal council of Saint-Contest, near Caen (Calvados), at the end of November, the mayor Jean-Marc Philippe proposed to elected officials to accept a motion concerning the development tax.
This represents 240,000 euros for Saint-Contest
Currently, Caen la Mer pays the municipalities 75% of the proceeds of this tax. Which, for Saint-Contest, represents € 240,000 and allows the financing of development work “of multi-year investment projects defined at the start of the mandate”.
Or, the president of the urban community proposes a degression of the rate of repayment, to arrive at 0% in five years. Unacceptable for Jean-Marc Philippe who already expressed last May his fear of seeing the distribution rules change. Joël Bruneau had assured him that it would not be the case.
“There is no question of doing without it”
However, new directions were unveiled on November 16 at a conference of people, for reasons of “total vagueness”. Jean-Marc Philippe does not take offense.
I will defend tooth and nail this tax so that it remains with the municipality. These are large sums, there is no question of doing without.
Renovation of the town hall
The companies carrying out the renovation of the town hall were chosen by the works commission. Six lots were awarded, from exterior carpentry to electricity, painting and plumbing. They represent an envelope of € 180,000 excluding taxes. For the convenience of the agents, the start of the works is scheduled for spring, they will last until the end of June.
The motion that the proposal be re-discussed was carried by majority minus one vote.
