Volkshilfe is committed to combating child poverty
Social
Salzburger Volkshilfe will do more to combat child poverty. With a support program especially for children, a total of around 200,000 euros are being spent on families at risk of poverty. This is also financed by the Ministry of Social Affairs and donations.
A good 80 families with a total of more than 170 children benefit from the Volkshilfe program. With the financial support, children of families at risk of poverty receive a whole range of concrete help.
This includes support with the purchase of teaching materials or laptops for students. In addition, tuition should become a matter of course or extracurricular activities such as language, music, art and sport – everything that families at risk of poverty could often not afford.
Health and education as priorities
The association Volkshilfe Salzburg wants to concentrate on the area of child poverty in the future when it comes to donations. According to Volkshilfe, families are currently affected by poverty if their household income with a child under 14 is less than 1,700 euros net.
