The President agrees that this holiday is inextricably linked with the history of the country, marks the feats of ancestors, and contemporaries, all “who by their actions, their lives have shown an example of genuine service to the Motherland.”

He noted that the heroism, valor and courage of the great citizens of the Fatherland reflect the will and character of the people. “This character at all times and epochs helped to withstand the most difficult trials, to strengthen the independence of our state, to resist with honor anyone who tried to encroach on our land,” Putin said.

The Russian leader added that no matter how cruel and merciless the threat, the defenders of the Fatherland, soldiers, officers have always shown exceptional courage. “So it was in the battles of 1812, and on the fronts of the First World War, during the Great Patriotic War,” he said.

In addition, the President expressed gratitude to the doctors. “We are proud of those who have multiplied and are multiplying the strength and might of the country through their selfless devotion, selflessly, regardless of risk, saving others. Special words – to medical workers, representatives of many other professions, to everyone who now, in our days, continues with dignity the great traditions of courage, loyalty, duty and disinterestedness, ”the head of state said.
