Dijon / VRDR: Take the step forward
After a week of total shutdown due to cases of covid in the workforce and in the management, the VRDR players resumed training in small groups in order to move to Dijon this Sunday.
As soon as a case of covid was discovered within the collective of players, the leaders of the VRDR applied the protocols established by the federal authorities. And as people in the management were also sentenced, the club was forced to suspend its activities for a week.
However, the situation improved and the players resumed training on Monday in order to prepare for the trip to Dijon, this Sunday, December 12. If they train in small groups, a member of the organized club reassured us because the situation was identical to last year and it had not disturbed them too much.
It seems early to announce the group that will move to Burgundy, the players have made their return after the injury, only the long-term injured were missing.
Moreover, for the Drôme leaders, the objective is the same: to win in Burgundy. It will not be easy faced with a formation which fights for its maintenance in this National division especially since it remains on an excellent production at Suresnes where it only lost a very small point.
In the Drômois camp, some took the opportunity to recharge the batteries which could be an advantage. VRDR players have faced weeklong hiatus before it affected their physical abilities.
Moreover, to achieve the objectives set by the club management, the Damiers must win in Burgundy to regain a positive dynamic.
In the general classification, the Drômois still occupy third place in the pool, two points behind Chambéry with one game less. A victory in Burgundy could allow the Drômois to pass in front of the Savoyards who will play a difficult match on the Nice coast.
But we must not sell the skin of the bear before having killed it and the Drôme leaders prefer to remain cautious about this move while clearly displaying their objective.
In addition, this meeting will be broadcast live on France 3 Bourgogne and France 3 Rhône-Alpes to the delight of rugby fans who hope to see the Checkers shine in Dijon.
Answer, Sunday around 4 p.m.
