Villeneuve-lez-Avignon: a birth, a tree
The beneficiaries of the “One birth, one tree” operation came to look for their tree on Saturday morning, at the foot of the Philippe le Bel Tower. It is not less than 47 families which concerned the birth of a child, but also each of those which obtained a building permit during the year 2021.
For several years, the municipality has offered parents who so wish, either a tree to plant at home in their garden, or a plant for the occupants of apartments. Thus, the children will see their tree, symbol of life and growth, grandiose with them.
“We do not choose to come and settle in Villeneuve by chance,” said Mayor Pascale Bories. This is largely for its setting, known for its vegetation, its green and peaceful character. This operation therefore contributes to its maintenance, and the trees donated by the City belong to species which are economical in water consumption and which bring freshness in scorching periods “.
Finally, for families living in apartments, so-called depolluting plants were offered. An explanatory brochure concerning the maintenance of these plants was given to each of the recipients.
