Transport in Rome from 8 December 2021 to 6 January 2022: all the information
Bus and metro lines strengthened together and discounts for young people of 50% on taxi rides. There is the transport plan for the Christmas holidays. Yesterday the Capitoline Junta approved the integrated plan of interventions to encourage the use of public transport for the Romans who will go out for the classic Christmas shopping. “We want to guarantee a holiday period that is attentive to the rules and more serene – commented Mayor Roberto Gualtieri – in this sense also an integrated public transport network that is able to promptly dispose of the greatest demand for travel, especially to and from places more frequented allows everyone to move better and safely “.
The main news
Among the main interventions planned for the period from 8 December, the feast of the Immaculate Conception, to 9 January, the first Monday after the holidays, we have first of all the intensification of bus lines, especially on the lines that lead from the suburbs to the Center historical. The Ztl will then be strengthened. The gates now active from Monday to Friday from 6.30 to 18 and on Saturdays from 14 to 18, during the holiday period will remain lit even on midweek holidays from 6.30 to 18, Saturdays included. Then again, the service of the electricity lines 100 and 119 will be extended and the underground lines A and B-B1 will be upgraded which, for example, on the night of December 31st, will operate the service until 2.30am.
“The plan – commented the Councilor for Mobility Eugenio Patanè – provides for a series of important interventions on the network, thanks to a synergy between Atac and the Rome Mobility Services Agency, aimed at requesting travel requests during the Christmas holidays, in particular between the external areas of the city towards the historic center and towards the great commercial, tourist, cultural and Christian attractions.
Discounts on taxi rides
The “travel vouchers” initiative should also be underlined: women from 18 years of age, men from 18 to 26 years, all over 60s and adults with disabilities have the opportunity to take advantage of a 50% discount, paying by credit card and debit card, on the cost of each individual Taxi / NCC journey up to a maximum of 20 euros per trip.
