Toulouse. The teacher suspected of violence on an elected RN finally receives a suspended fine of € 500
The Toulouse teacher who was tried by the criminal court for acts of violence against an elected representative of the National Gathering has just been ordered to pay a € 500 suspended fine.
Léo Simon, the teacher to judge the violence committed during a towing on a Toulouse market in February 2020 has just been sentenced to a 500 euros fine suspended by the Toulouse Criminal Court. This 40-year-old leftist activist was tried on November 23, after several months of investigation.
At the bar of the court, Léo Simon, defended by Me Claire Dujardin, had however denied any violent aggression. “I did not commit this violence. I heard of racist insults in this market, uttered by these RN activists. I have very strong political convictions and I oppose this hate speech but never I would not use violence, “said the father of two children.
A video of the assault
The case dates back to February 9, 2020, in the midst of the electoral campaign for the municipal elections. That morning, Quentin Lamotte, a candidate and also regional advisor under the colors of the National Rally, distributed with a dozen members of leaflets in the city center when he had been informed of an incident between left activists and his team on the Crystal market. When he arrived there, Quentin Lamotte was reportedly greeted with a stick in the legs. If we trust the videos that circulated on social networks after the events, Léo Simon said the famous stick but no one had an exchange of blows. Me Dujardin had also considered that the evidence was not sufficient to convict his client. This was not the opinion of the court, since the teacher was ultimately convicted of group violence.
