The organizers give the news, adding: “After the forced stop due to covid, the Maskfest restarts with a single appointment for 2021, with the patronage of the Secretariat of State for Education and Culture of the Republic of San Marino, thanks to the collaboration of the San Marino Music Institute, of the City of San Marino Castle Council and in support of the Cassa di Risparmio of the Republic of San Marino, Eden and SUMS. Invited to perform on April 8th at the Melkin Hall of the Kaufman Music Center, one of the most prestigious concert halls in New York, Patrizia Romanello presents in this concert a part of the same New York program, comparing the poetics of two composers of different generations, the American Philip Glass (1937) and the Italian-San Marino Massimiliano Messieri (1964). The concert opens with one of the monuments in Glass’s piano catalog, namely “Metamorphosis”, a cycle of five compositions that create a sort of logbook of a collaboration by the American musician in a theatrical staging of the homonymous story by Kafka . The program ends in the Mediterranean area with some compositions by Massimiliano Messieri “Fantasia”, “Fantasia No.2 – Traveling with Patrizia”, ”Haiku for piano, a selection of 12 Haiku” that the composer dedicates to Patrizia Romanello herself . In these latest scores by Messieri (written between 2019 and 2020), recently recorded by Romanello herself for AmadeusArte, you can feel her predilection for the stylistic features of popular music in the Mediterranean area.
Patrizia Romanello after having completed her musical studies at the “G. Rossini Conservatory of Pesaro and subsequently also the same competition at the G. Frescobaldi Conservatory of Ferrara. Eclecticism and versatility combined with considerable sensitivity, allowing her to range from a vast range of repertoires, from baroque to contemporary music, performing scores by composers such as Graham Fitkin, Daniela Silvestrini, Michele Mariotti, Helmut Laberer “Klangbilder“Concert for piano, percussion and orchestra (Pesaro Symphony Orchestra) and Roberto Molinelli”Four photos from New York“, Where Romanello is a soloist in the jazz trio”Sentimental evening“Accompanied by the Pesaro Symphony Orchestra.
