Multi-purpose stadium with soccer and football planned in Salzburg
The planned construction site is at the exhibition center between the A1 motorway and the existing multi-storey car park. The city of Salzburg would have to provide the reason for the project. The apartments finance the stadium project, which would close a large existing gap in the range of sports facilities in the city of Salzburg.
It is planned to sell 50 percent of the apartments, the other half will be rented out as social housing. The 428 apartments would ease the situation on the Salzburg housing market.
SVAS main tenant
The main tenant with home rights is to be SV Austria Salzburg, which will give the club a venue that meets higher requirements for the home games of its team. This is not only important for Austria in terms of a permitted promotion, but also because the permits for the current venue in Salzburg-Maxglan will expire in 2024.
In addition to football, the stadium should also be used for other sports and events. The Salzburg Ducks, who will be promoted to the AFL Bundesliga in 2022, have been subtenants in the current Max Aicher Stadium for two seasons.
Austrian Bowl in the middle of Austria?
Duck chairwoman Christine Gappmayerwho was present at the presentation on Monday not only sees the chance of an optimal venue for her club, but is also waiting for a venue for the Austrian Bowl, the final game of the domestic league in the middle of Austria.
Gappmayer’s hope is supported by the AFBÖ Secretary General Christopher Seirl: “As Secretary General of the American Football Association, I very much welcome the project to build a stadium for 5,000 fans in Salzburg, in central Austria. We are always looking for a venue for the Austrian Bowl or the national team, but Austria doesn’t offer many options at the moment.”
Implementation still open
Asked about the last negative comments from Salzburg’s mayor Harald Pruner company founder showed up on the project Max Aicher convinced. “Without the possibility of examining a project from all sides, it is of course difficult for politicians to assess a project”, according to Aicher. He was optimistic. “Of course, it can primarily be a stadium for Salzburg fans when it’s in Salzburg”, according to Aicher. The decision would lie with the Salzburg politicians. “We will do everything for it. We can only make an offer to politicians.”.
