Jaccaud + Associés, Rrreefs, Mavo Landscapes and Piertzovanis Toews are the winners of this year’s ‘Best’, awarded by Hochparterre and presented by the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich.
Tonight at the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, Hochparterre awarded the best projects of the year in the categories “Architecture”, “Design” and “Landscape Architecture” and the “Rabbit – the Sennförderpreis for young architecture”. The Geneva-based firm Jaccaud + Associés for the renovation of the Cité du Lignon in Vernier won the golden rabbit in the “Architecture” category. “The restoration of the largest Swiss housing estate was a great feat of strength, which the architects carried out precisely and unpretentiously,” explains the jury. “The intervention is ecological because it receives a lot of gray energy, but halves the energy requirement in operation.”
In the ‘Design’ category, the Rrreefs team won for the art reef off San Andrés in Colombia. The jury praised the implementation strength of the team, which succeeded in developing, testing, financing and producing a modular reef using 3-D printing. “The building blocks, designed according to technical-functional criteria, also impress with their aesthetic quality, which has the potential to make scientific results more accessible.” The “Inner Garden” project by the Zurich office Mavo Landscapes received the Golden Rabbit in the “Landscape Architecture” category – a prime example of how landscape architecture can be thought of beyond the boundaries of the parcel and how it can have an impact. “The landscape architects have translated a strategic and urban planning idea into spatial and atmospheric design guidelines that are suitable for investors as well as legal,” praised the jury.
Piertzovanis Toews, because “the unyielding love of simple construction and poetic construction details are convincing and touching.”
