Frankfurt and Corona: Praise for the lions, stages and museums

However, the FR survey on corona controls also reveals concerns. In many places, vaccination certificates are all too laxly checked.
First of all, a big thank you to everyone who wrote down their experiences with corona checks in gastronomy and on other occasions. There are so many letters that we cannot thank all those who sent us, and we cannot report all of our experiences individually in the newspaper.
The result is surely not representative and it is intended to denounce the hosts across the board. All reports can be summarized as follows: There are places and facilities that make an exemplary effort to check the vaccination records – but the vast majority of our readers are not satisfied with what they describe to us.
There is talk of a Frankfurt café owner who tells her guests, “She doesn’t care whether she is vaccinated or not vaccinated. It’s all just dictatorship. “The waiter in the bar of a large Frankfurt event location, when asked by FR readers about the fact that the app hadn’t been checked, said:” I don’t care, I don’t do the corona shit anymore “. Another reader about another Frankfurt innkeeper: “He just said he doesn’t check IDs, he doesn’t want, he’s not the police.”
A reader, who by no means sees himself as a control freak, turned to the management of a Frankfurt shopping center because he had experienced gross negligence during the controls. Management can use its reach among customers to promote vaccination and sanity, suggested the FR reader. Response: none.
Long waiting times
Complaints range from overwhelmed subway inspectors to a cheese seller at the weekly market who refuses to take hygiene measures. Unreasonably long waiting times at vaccination booths were also the subject of letters – only to be sent away at the end because the vaccine had been used up. Unfortunately, a reader also experienced this at a stop of the Impf-Express, even if it has nothing to do with the Corona checks, of course.
Even two hospitals checked the vaccination status of the visitors with alarming laxity, but in Rhineland-Palatinate and Thuringia, as two readers reported. “I hesitated to be active here as a ‘denouncer'”, wrote one reader after a number of restaurant visits. “But it just can’t go on like this.” Denouncing shouldn’t be the point here, just about drawing attention to the situation. May the need for this end as soon as possible.
There was great praise for the controls at the home ice hockey lions, for opera and drama at Willy-Brandt-Platz, for the Dramatic Stage, the Caricatura, for the Städel and Schirn. Praise also for conscientious restaurants and ristoranti in France and Italy from our polyglot readers. And the comparison: “In Germany everything is still handled very generously as usual: Free travel for free citizens.”
A particularly well-informed reader analyzed the development of the legal corona requirements for gastronomy in Hesse since June 2021 and asked: the 2G to 3G An email full of G-witty puns and wished we should stay G-sund. We wish you all that too.
