DGS recommends vaccination of children, Ómicron grows in Portugal and other TSF highlights
The General Directorate of Health (DGS) recommends this Tuesday a vaccination against Covid-19 for all children of children between five and 11 years. The DGS explains that children with illnesses considered at risk for Covid-19 will have priority.

Also at Covid-19, the number of detected cases of the Ómicron variant in Portugal rose to 37, according to data from the Ricardo Jorge National Health Institute (INSA). There are three more compared to what was disclosed in the joint report of the INSA and the Directorate-General for Health “Linhas Vermelhas”, Friday.

The new legislation is approaching and the first decisions are being refined. The PSD leadership led a possible pre-election coalition with the CDS-PP. The coalition included the PPM, but had only three votes in favour.

Also on the PSD have already been defined some of the names that will be updated on January 30th. Baptista Leite heads the list for Lisbon, while Sofia Matos tops the list for Porto. Rui Rio will be number two in Porto.

At the CDS-PP, two members of the Jurisdiction Council resigned. João Monge Gouveia and Otília Gomes leave following the request to challenge the National Council meeting presented by Nuno Melo.

The president of the southern section of the Order of Physicians, Alexandre Valentim Loureiro, accused hospitals of reserving empty spaces for patients with Covid-19, when they serve patients with other pathologies.

In Paris, a member of the group accused of having killed journalist Jamal Khashoggi was arrested. Khalid Alotaibi, 33, was detained by security agents as he prepared to travel to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The journalist was murdered in October 2018 in Istanbul, Turkey.
